Welcome,
internet readers, to Katherine Delmar Burke School. Burke's is a kindergarten through eighth grade school for girls located
on 3 1/2 acres in San Francisco. Our school is known for its excellent
academic program, broad exposure to art, drama, and athletics, and for
the ways in which we support education for girls. We are committed to
helping each girl discover areas in which she is particularly
interested, talented, or skilled and to becoming a multicultural
environment in which all students are recognized and appreciated for
their differences as well as for their similarities. We use technology
to support all aspects of our academic program and our web site as a
communication tool for Burke's students, graduates, families and
friends.
Diversity
Katherine Delmar Burke School supports "the education of a diverse
population of girls", valuing the contributions that a diverse
family, faculty, and administrative population brings to the educational
process. Our commitment is to build an inclusive community that honors
and celebrates the individual contributions of its members and their
ability to learn from one another, and prepares girls to become
productive citizens in a diverse society. We believe that curricula must
reflect the diversity of cultures and viewpoints as a point of literacy
about today's world and that an effective learning community must
provide a challenging, creative, and supportive environment that
embraces understanding of each other and enacting responsibilities to
each other and to the world community.
