At Evergreen, we believe that a gifted child’s journey toward
fulfilling his/her potential comes through educating the whole child. In
1963, The Evergreen School for Gifted Children was established to
provide a nurturing environment for extraordinary minds.
Since our beginning, the school has met this need with a hands-on
curriculum grounded in exploration and global understanding. Although we
shortened our name to The Evergreen School in 1991, our mission remains
the same.
Evergreen offers an exciting educational experience developing
independent problem-solving skills, compassion, sense of social
responsibility, global understanding and thirst for knowledge. Our
program surrounds students with a supportive community through these
formative years to deliver confident, well-rounded individuals into the
world. Through the unyielding passion of talented teachers, a warm,
friendly environment, and the enthusiastic assistance of our parents,
Evergreen students embrace their strengths to pursue and achieve their
dreams.
Geared for Highly Capable Children
Evergreen encourages students to develop their own unique gifts and
learning potential with an enriched curriculum that emphasizes
individual skill building. Highly capable students usually possess
advanced creative thinking skills, demonstrate long periods of
concentration, independence, self-direction, curiosity and a progressive
vocabulary at an early age. Like all children and adolescents, they need
love, care and guidance, but to fulfill their potential they also need
an early and continuous exposure to a broad range of ideas. Traditional
learning environments often fail to provide the depth, breadth and
pacing these students deserve and require. At Evergreen, we cater
specifically to their needs with experiential learning approaches that
teach students outside the boundaries of grade-level, memorization-based
curriculum.
